Het is als eerste belangrijk dat voor gebruik de gipsmallen schoon zijn, zijn ontvet en droog zijn op de gedeeltes waar het gips wordt ingegoten.

Ik gebruik modelgips van Knauf dat gewoon bij de Praxis te koop is. Voor een goed resultaat een kleine hoeveelheid gips met water aanmengen tot een dikte die ongeveer gelijk is aan drinkyoghurt. Voorzichtig roeren om zoveel mogelijk luchtbelletjes te voorkomen. Daarna een druppeltje afwasmiddel toevoegen en mengen om zo de oppervlaktespanning te verminderen. Na het gieten zachtjes tegen de zijkanten van de gipsmal tikken om zo de luchtbelletjes uit het gips te halen. Daarna het gips tot de rand van de gipsmal afstrijken. Na ongeveer 1 uur kan het gips uiterst voorzichtig uit de mal worden gehaald.

The E94 and E194 are known as the German Crocodile and consist of a central section and two moving noses. The E 94 electric locomotives were built after 1940 and are designed for heavy freight trains but also used for passenger trains.

The locomotives of the E 94 series could reach a speed of 85 km/h with 2000 tons of weight. With a slope of 1% and 1,600 tons of weight a speed of 40 km/h could be achieved. The maximum speed was 100 km/h. The E94-145 is built by WLF / Elin.

In the 60s the roofs were extend to create shade for the engineers. These were hosted in the E194 series.

The Marklin 37225 E94-145 is a model from 1950 (period III) and has 2 head lights, while the E194 161-6 is a model from 1981 (period IV) with 3 head lights.

The Marklin E94 and E194 came with a simple digital decoder with 28 speed steps and no sound support. I have installed in both locomotives an ESU LokSound M4 62499 decoder with a speaker and programmed the decoders with the E94 and E194 driving sounds.

The switchable functions for the Motorola addresses 93 and 94 (for E94) and addresses 95 and 96 (for E194) are:

• Engine sound and break sound
• Whistle

De E94 en E194 staan bekend als de Duitse Krokodil en bestaan uit een midden gedeelte en twee schanierende uitbouwen. De E 94 elektrische locomotieven werden gebouwd na 1940 en zijn ontworpen voor zware goederentreinen maar werden ook gebruikt voor passagierstreinen.

De locomotieven van de serie E 94 konden 2.000 ton met een snelheid van 85km/h voortrekken. Bij een helling van 1%, kon met 1600 ton een snelheid van 40km/h worden bereikt. De maximale snelheid bedroeg 100km/h. De E94-145 is gebouwd bij WLF/Elin.

In de 60′er jaren werden de daken verlengt vanwege de hinder die de machinisten van de zon ondervonden. Deze werden ondergebracht in de E194 serie.

De Marklin 37225 E94-145 heeft de uitvoering uit 1950 (tijdperk III), terwijl de E194 161-6 de uitvoering heeft uit 1981 (tijdperk IV).

Standaard zijn de Marklin E94 en E194 voorzien van een eenvoudige decoder welke 28 rijstappen en geen geluid ondersteunen. Ik heb beide locomotieven voorzien van een ESU LokSound M4 62499 decoder met luidspreker en geprogrammeerd met de E94 en E194 rijgeluiden.

Below a description is given how easily to configure the SwitchPilot using the ESU LokProgrammer 53451.

To program the SwitchPilot, the terminals (TrkA with PwA) must be connected as well as (TrkB with PwB). This is all described in the SwitchPilot manual which must be followed. The SwitchPilot must be equally connected to the LokProgrammer as is described in the manual for the digital command center.

When the LokProgrammer is connected to a computer, the LokProgrammer software can be started. Always use the latest LokProgrammer software.

• Create a new project (create new project)
• Select SwitchPilot Servo under SwitchPilot
• Read the SwitchPilot data by pressing (Ctrl R). In the below screenprint the SwitchPilot address equals 5, the connected servo addresses are 17, 18, 19 and 20. Here you can change the address which can be written to the SwitchPilot by pressing (Ctrl W). In the SwitchPilot manual a table is available to match the SwitchPilot address with the output addresses.

• Under the option (Functions), the servo speed and servo positions for the 4 SwitchPilot outputs can be configured. Both duration speed and the A and B positions needs to be defined experimentally and are dependent of the servo’s used. The left and right end-positions can be set with the position A and B slidebars. The difference between the A and B position defines total rotation of the servo. The new settings can be tested after they are written to the SwitchPilot by pressing (Ctrl W)

• Another possibility to program the SwitchPilot is to change the CV values directly. In the manual it is described which CV’s represnet which function.
  The new value’s can be written to the SwitchPilot by pressing (Ctrl W).

• The with the SwitchPilot connected servo’s can optionally directly be tested with the LokProgrammer. It is not required to connect the SwitchPilot to the LokProgrammer in a different way. During testing the SwitchPilot and 4 servo’s via the LokProgrammer, one servo out of the 4 made a humming sound. After disconnected 1, the sound disappeared. This problem doesn’t occur when the SwitchPilot is connected to a digital command center.
• At the function Virtual Driver Cab select Turnout Control Panel to test the new settings of the SwitchPilot

• Input the address of the SwitchPilot which needs to be tested.
• Press GO to activate the test.
• Press alternately on the different A and B outputs and check if the connected servo’s do what they expect to do. Re-program the SwitchPilot if neccesary.
• Press STOP to end the test.

If required, all settings in the SwitchPilot can be changed directly and again tested. To reset the SwitchPilot to the factory defaults, by using Edit CV’s, the value 8 must be written to CV8.

The most important characteristics of the signals:

• When chaging the signal status the lights slowly extinguish and slowly lightup, this gives a very nice and realistics picture.
• Because of the integrated electronics in the head of the signal there are no wires available like in the Viesmann signals.

To program a 76397 signal with a Marklin Central Station. For the other signals the program steps are very simular.

Attention!.
Some digital command centers, such as the ECoS and the CS1-reloaded, can simultaneously support multiple protocols. In a number of forums it is described that the Marklin 76xxx signals may have problems with a DCC signal on the track. I cannot confirm this problem as I only use the Marklin protocols Motorola and M4/MFX.

The heavy metal version of the marklin V200 is one of my favorite locomotives, primarily because of nostalgic reasons. When the Marklin V200 39800 became available at the first time, the driving characteristics were terrible. The starting speed was high and when driving slowely the V200 stammered enormously. I’ve tried several 39800 V200′s but all showed the same problem. The V200 C-sinus was causing the problem. An upgrade made available by Marklin resuled in excellent driving characteristics. Later the V200 was shipped with a SoftDrive sinus which took away the problems too.

De zware metalen uitvoering van de Marklin V200 is een van mijn favoriete locomotieven, vooral uit nostalgisch oogpunt. Op het moment dat de V200 021 onder artikelnummer 39800 door Marklin werd uitgeleverd waren de rijeigenschappen zeer slecht. De startsnelheid was hoog en bij langzaam rijden stotterde de V200 enorm. Ik heb er verschillende 39800’s uitgeprobeerd maar deze vertoonden allemaal hetzelfde probleem. De V200 C-sinus was de veroorzaker, later werd de V200 uitgeleverd met een Softdrive sinus met veel betere eigenschappen. Ook was het mogelijk de eerste V200 modellen om te laten bouwen waardoor de rijeigenschappen weer perfect zijn.

De schakelbare functies met standaard digitaal adres 22 zijn:

Programmeer stappen voor een CS, zoals eerder vermeld, zal ik de beschrijving later ook controleren met een ECoS.

• Voor een nieuw sein de elektronicaprint van het sein in de verpakking laten zitten en de programmeerstrip niet verwijderen.
  Als een sein reeds eerder is geprogrammeerd en is gebruikt, moet de programmeerstrip opnieuw worden aangebracht op de print.
  Letop dat het sein aangepast is naar V2.0
• Bepaal welk adres aan het sein gegeven moet worden en voeg het sein toe aan de magneetartikellijst in de CS en plaats het toegevoegde sein op 1 van de beschikbare tab bladen van de CS. Voor het programmeren moet de schakeltijd op 2500ms worden gezet.
  Opmerking:
  Als het voorsein altijd gekoppeld is aan 1 hoofdsein is het niet nodig het voorsein apart op te nemen in de magneetartikellijst (het voorsein moet dan hetzelfde adres krijgen als het gekoppelde hoofdsein). Als er meerdere hoofdseinen aan het voorsein gekoppeld kunnen worden, dient het voorsein ook opgenomen te worden in de magneetartikellijst en op het tabblad geplaatst worden zodat deze kan worden geprogrammeerd.
  Als zowel het hoofdsein en het voorsein apart worden opgenomen moeten er 4 adressen worden gereserveerd (2 voor het hoofdsein en 2 voor het voorsein).
• Als het sein en eventueel het voorsein, op het tabblad zijn geplaatst druk dan op de STOP toets van de CS
• Koppel de CS los van de baan zodat tijdens het programmeren alleen het sein is aangesloten. Ik maak gebruik van een aparte aansluitrails om eenvoudig het te programmeren sein te kunnen aansluiten.
• Sluit de gele draad van het sein aan op de rijstroom aansluiting (Rood) en de bruine draad van het sein op de massa (Bruin)
• Zelf test ik altijd eerst of alle leds werken en alle seinbeelden getoond kunnen worden. Druk op GO van de CS en het sein zal tussen 2 standen gaan schakelen, dit duurt ongeveer 30 seconden. Daarna zal het sein alle mogelijke seinbeelden tonen. Als de test goed is verlopen druk op STOP van de CS.
• Druk op GO van de CS en het sein zal tussen 2 standen gaan schakelen (programmeerstand). Het programmeren zal binnen ongeveer 30 seconden moeten beginnen omdat het sein anders uit de programmeerstand zal gaan. Als dit het geval is druk op STOP en dan weer op GO zodat het sein weer opnieuw in de programmeerstand komt.
  Opmerking:
  Het kan zijn dat het sein niet tussen 2 standen zal gaan schakelen of dat er geen seinbeeld wisselingen zijn tijdens het programmeren (ik heb dit met 2 seinen gehad). In dat geval de CS weer uitschakelen door op STOP te drukken en de programmeerstrip voorzichtig heen en weer schuiven zodat deze beter contact maakt. Schakel de CS weer in door op GO te drukken om het opnieuw te proberen. Dit loste voor mij het probleem op.
• Schakel het hoofdsein in op seinbeeld HP1 en wacht totdat het hoofdsein opnieuw tussen 2 standen zal schakelen.
• Schakel het hoofdsein in op seinbeeld HP2 en wacht totdat het voorsein tussen 2 standen zal gaan schakelen (het hoofdsein is nu geprogrammeerd).
  Opmerking:
  Door onverklaarbare redenen (kom hier nog wel een keer achter hoop ik) blijven soms alle leds branden en gaat het sein niet naar de volgende programmeer stap. In dat geval het seinbeeld kiezen welke nog niet is geselecteerd (in dit geval HP0 omdat HP1 en HP2 al zijn gekozen). Dit is ook van toepassing op het voorsein. In alle gevallen is het programmeren goed verlopen.
• Schakel het hoofdsein (of het apart op het tabblad opgenomen voorsein) dat is gekoppeld aan het voorsein in op HP1. Het voorsein krijgt nu hetzelfde adres als het gekoppelde hoofdsein. Wacht totdat het voorsein opnieuw tussen twee standen zal gaan schakelen.
• Schakel het hoofdsein (of het apart op het tabblad opgenomen voorsein) dat is gekoppeld aan het voorsein in op HP2.
• Het sein is nu geprogrammeerd (zie ook laatste opmerking), schakel de CS uit door op STOP te drukken en koppel het sein los.
• Verwijder de programmeerstrip van de elektronicaprint van het sein en monteer het sein op de baan. Het sein kan niet worden getest zonder de programmeerstrip te verwijderen.
• Vergeet niet voor het testen de schakeltijd van het magneetartikel terug te zetten van 2500ms naar 500ms.

Aansluitingen decoder print:
A = Analoge verbinding voor de bediening van het voorsein
B = Aansluiting om baanstukken spanningsloos te kunnen maken
C = Rijspanning aansluiting
D = Aansluiting voor schakelcontact

Ik stuur de treinen en seinen middels software aan en gebruik alleen de aansluitingen C voor de rijspanning van de digitale centrale en F voor de aansluiting van de seinmast.
